Kidney transplantation performed for the first time in Vynnytsia
For the first time, a kidney transplant surgery was performed on a patient in Vinnytsia from a relative, from mother to son.
The head of the Vinnytsia Regional State Administration Serhii Borzov announced this on Facebook.
"The first kidney transplantation in the Vinnytsia region! On December 11, the 'New Year's Miracle and Hope for Life' happened in the Vinnytsia Regional Clinical Hospital named after Mykola Pyrohov. This is what Oleh Kapshuk, the head of the Clinical Highly Specialized Urological Center for Organ Transplantation, calls the first operation. There is still a long way to go, but its beginning has already been established," Borzov wrote.
The video released by the head of the regional state administration states that the kidney transplantation was performed from a close relative, from mother to son. The operation went without complications, both patients feel well.
It is noted that the operation was free for this family. It was performed at the Vinnytsia Regional Clinical Hospital named after Mykola Pyrohov, which the Ministry of Health has chosen as a base for the implementation of a pilot project to establish transplant centers in Ukraine. In addition to Vinnytsia, it includes five other regions.
