Biden: the deployment of US troops in Ukraine "is not considered"

US President Joe Biden has said that the deployment of US troops in Ukraine to prevent a potential Russian invasion "is not being considered."

Reuters and the BBC reported this.

Biden said the United States had a moral and legal obligation to protect NATO allies in the event of an attack, but that this obligation doesn't apply to Ukraine.

"It will depend on what other NATO countries do… But the idea that the United States is going to unilaterally use force to counter Russia's invasion of Ukraine is not relevant now," he said.

Earlier, the media reported that the United States was ready to send reinforcements to NATO's eastern flank if Russia decides to invade Ukraine, as well as introduce new serious economic measures against Moscow.
