Zelenskyy spoke with Canadian Prime Minister about tightening sanctions against Russia

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau, during which he discussed the need to develop mechanisms to increase economic, political, and sanctions pressure on Russia in the event of escalating aggression against Ukraine.

The Office of the President reported this.

"It (Canada's support  – ed.) is especially important and noticeable. Over the past eight years, when Canada is strongly opposed to aggression by Russia," said Zelensky.

Zelenskyy informed Trudeau about the situation on Ukraine's borders and noted the importance of the fact that the Chief of the Defense Staff of the Canadian Armed Forces is visiting Kyiv.

"Leaders were unanimous in their assessment of security threats in and around Ukraine, including the risk of destabilizing the socio-political situation. The importance of a coordinated response to Ukraine's support by the international democratic community was emphasized. In this regard, the parties agreed on the need to work out mechanisms to increase economic, political, and sanctions pressure on Russia in the event of escalating aggression against our state," the statement said.
