Zhytomyr receives a 30-year loan for thermal modernization of schools and kindergartens

Zhytomyr received a unique opportunity to thermo-modernize schools and kindergartens: a soft loan for 30 years and grant funds from the German state bank KFW.

The mayor of Zhytomyr Serhii Sukhomlyn announced it on Facebook, Rubryka reports.

According to him, today they supported it with the decision of the session, and the agreement will be signed tomorrow.

"It's about saving heat and saving money in 40 educational institutions in Zhytomyr! The approach must be comprehensive: thermal insulation of walls, roof, and basement; replacement of windows and doors; installation of individual heating points…

All works, from preparation to commissioning, will last from 2022 to 2025. After all the measures, we will get a 60% reduction in thermal energy consumption, which saves more than 30 million hryvnias a year!" Sukhomlyn said.

The mayor of Zhytomyr noted Zhytomyr would also receive a grant of 3 million euros for a comprehensive thermal renovation of health facilities.

"We are creating a working group that will work it all out, provide recommendations on the list of facilities, and act during all the work! The selection will take into account all the necessary factors: the number of students/pupils, criteria for heat consumption over the past few years," Sukhomlyn said.
