Ukraine starts to use robots to sort parcels

Nova Poshta uses robots at 20 facilities in the areas of cargo and small shipments, by the end of the year they will appear at 10 more sorting centers.

The company's press service reported this.

Nova Poshta said that the company began to use different types of robots depending on the weight of the parcel. Thus, in the sorting zones of small shipments (up to 2 kg), they use a robot train consisting of two sections.

"An employee lays out a parcel for a robot, which takes it to the scanner and moves it to the box, which is responsible for a certain geographical direction. Robots work on a special platform with a monorail, which also serves to charge them. Using the robots allowed us to increase the productivity of sorting small shipments. Currently, 272 such robots work in our centers," the company said.

Pirouette robots from the Ukrainian company Deus Robots are used to sort shipments up to 30 kg. They are so named because they can rotate around their axis.

In total, the company already uses 180 robots at cargo terminals; they already work in depots in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Odesa, Boryspil, Melitopol, Pokrovsk, Novomoskovsk, Starobilsk, Korosten, Stryi, Sambor, Kovel, Stoianka.
