The United States invites Ukraine to Biden's Summit for Democracy

The US State Department has released a list of countries invited to President Joe Biden's virtual democracy summit next month. Ukraine is on the list.

The US State Department reported this.

According to the State Department, the list of delegations consists of 110 countries, including Ukraine.

The list also includes Taiwan, India, the Philippines, and Poland.

Turkey, Russia, and China are not on the list.

The summit will take place on December 9-10.

The summit is expected to focus on three major topics:

  • protection against authoritarianism
  • fight against corruption
  • promoting respect for human rights.

Besides world leaders, Biden invites representatives of civil society and the private sector to a series of events focused on "developing concrete commitments and results for the summit."

Discussions will continue for a year; as part of the next summit, the leaders won't meet in virtual mode, but in person.
