Nearly 300,000 Ukrainians hold Poland’s residence permits
In the first three quarters of 2021, some 49,700 Ukrainian nationals obtained permits for temporary (up to three years) or permanent (5-10 years) stay in Poland, while the total number of Ukrainians holding such documents increased to 293,800.
That's according to Poland's Office for Foreigners, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
As of early October, a total of 525,000 foreigners held permits for temporary or permanent residence in Poland, of whom 56% were citizens of Ukraine.
Some 63% of foreigners hold documents for temporary residence in Poland, 20% of foreigners have permanent residence permits or status of an EU resident, and another 15% are EU citizens who have registered their stay in Poland.
In addition to Ukrainians, the largest groups of foreigners who have obtained a residence permit in Poland are Belarusians (37,100), Germans (19,700), Russians (13,700), Vietnamese (11,200), and Indians (10,900).
The most popular regions for foreigners are Masovian Voivodeship (Warsaw) with 139,900 permit holders, Lesser Poland (Krakow) with 62,600 holders, Greater Poland (Poznan) with 48,800 holders, and Lower Silesia (Wroclaw) with 43,600.
This list does not include foreigners staying in Poland based on a visa or via visa-free travel.
It is estimated that there are currently about 1.5 million Ukrainians staying in Poland.
