"Every year we have such a tradition at the highest political level: agreeing on some significant things. Last year we agreed to revise the association agreement, which will primarily promote the development of small and medium-sized businesses; companies will have more access to EU markets.
This year we're opening the European sky for Ukraine. After signing the agreement on a single aviation area, we'll have cheap tickets, high competition in the market and service, as in many European countries. In addition, our scientists, creative industry, cultural field will have access to European resources, exhibitions, research programs. It is actually a cultural and scientific visa-free regime," she said.
The Deputy Prime Minister told what important topics would also be discussed at the summit.
"We'll also talk about energy security not only in Ukraine but also in Europe, the fight against the continental gas war started by the Russian Federation through the Nord Stream-2 project, and for the first time, we'll discuss the synchronization of electricity transmission systems," she said.
Earlier it was reported that the long-awaited "open skies" agreement is planned to be signed at the EU-Ukraine Summit on October 12. On June 28, the EU Council agreed to sign a Common Aviation Area Agreement with three countries, including Ukraine.
