The leader of the Servant of the People faction, Davyd Arakhamia, said the Verkhovna Rada would appoint a new speaker on Friday, October 8.

He stated this at a briefing on the sidelines of the Verkhovna Rada on October 6, the UP reports.

"I think on Friday (there will be a vote – ed.). We need to hold a meeting of the faction and determine both candidates at noon, and then we'll vote," Arakhamia said.

According to Arakhamia, besides Oleksandr Kornienko, the chairperson of the Servant of the People party, and Ruslan Stefanchuk, the deputy speaker, other people's deputies also want to run for the Verkhovna Rada, but he didn't name the candidates.

He added that Dmytro Razumkov would be fired from the post of the head of the parliament on October 7, after which the Servant of the People party planned a meeting of the faction.
