The People's Deputy from the "Servant of the People" party, Maryna Bardina, spoke about draft laws in the gender equality field in an interview for Rubryka.

Thus, recently they voted for a draft law that allowed men to have a two-week maternity leave.

"It seems to me that these are the first steps in fostering equality in child care," Bardina said.

They also passed a law banning sexism in advertising to avoid naked bodies, bad slogans that reproduce various gender stereotypes but have nothing to do with the advertised products.

"I think Ukrainians are much more creative without sexism," the deputy says. "In addition, we're working to prevent domestic violence, and recently the President signed the relevant law.

We're working on changes in the Armed Forces of Ukraine to equalize the rights of women and men in the service in both professional and private life."

According to her, first, women also went to defend our territorial integrity and sovereignty, and we must take into account all these realities. Second, it will help to educate the generation of independent Ukraine with the understanding that girls and boys can equally choose who to be and what to do.

"And more globally, we're thinking about care reform. We now have three years of unpaid maternity leave. It's mostly for women. It creates some professional isolation and contributes to women's economic dependence. We're looking at how it works in other countries and we're thinking about changes in our country," the Servant of the People party said.
