Ukrzaliznytsia announces largest suburban train renewal during independence years
Ukrzaliznytsia is launching the largest renewal of its suburban and regional train fleet since Ukraine's independence. It plans to purchase 80 new suburban and regional trains.
This was reported by the press service of the railway.
In total, the company plans to purchase 30 AC electric trains and 30 DC electric trains for suburban transportation. They will also purchase 20 AC trains for regional routes.
The total amount of procurement is over UAH 31.4 billion.
Thus, 60 purchased trains will be involved in the City Express project, and another 20 are planned to be launched on existing and new regional routes.
Leading world manufacturers have been invited to participate in the tender procurement; requests for commercial offers have been sent to Siemens, Stadler, Alstom, Pesa, ŠKODA, and the Kriukivka Carriage Plant.
Ukrzaliznytsia will accept applications for participation in the tender until November 1, 2021. The auction will take place on December 7.
Cooperation with the winner of the tender is designed for 5 years, so the delivery of trains is planned by the parties until 2026.
Technical specialists of Ukrzaliznytsia and representatives of leading international and Ukrainian manufacturers were involved in developing technical requirements for suburban and regional electric trains.
In cooperation with Deutsche Bahn, DB Regio specialists, which operate one of the largest regional rolling stock in Europe, also joined the review of the technical requirements.
