President of Israel to visit Ukraine next week
President of Israel Isaac Herzog will make his first state visit to Ukraine on October 5-7 to mark the 80th anniversary of the Babyn Yar tragedy.
President Herzog will attend the events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Babyn Yar tragedy, meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, address the Verkhovna Rada, and meet with representatives of the Jewish community in Ukraine.
On the eve of his visit, Herzog underscored the need to continue talking about this terrible event and learning its lessons. "The Babyn Yar Holocaust Memorial Center is an important place to honor this painful memory and to make a statement that we must uphold together: never again. The only way to build the present and the future in which crimes against humanity remain unsupported is to study the past, including the Holocaust and the persecution of the Jewish people. I welcome President Zelensky's invitation and his commitment to combating antisemitism," the President of Israel said.
