Banks' profit this year showed best result in past 10 years - NBU governor
Net profit of Ukrainian banks for the first eight months of 2021 reached UAH 45.6 billion, which is better than the results recorded in the corresponding periods in the past ten years.
Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Kyrylo Shevchenko wrote on this Facebook page.
"We have a convincing financial result of the banking sector for eight months – UAH 45.6 billion of net profit. This is almost 40% higher than last year (UAH 32.6 billion for the first eight months of 2020) and is better than the results in the relevant periods of more than ten years in a row," Shevchenko wrote.
According to him, such a result was facilitated by the rapid growth of operating income and a significant reduction in provisioning, banks continue to increase the amount of issued loans to businesses and individuals. At the same time, the positive dynamics of attracting customer funds in the national currency remains: the growth of hryvnia deposit portfolios of businesses and individuals amounted to + 29% and + 15%, respectively.
