An extraordinary field meeting of the executive committee of the Lviv City Council on September 22 took place in the open air in front of the main building of Lviv Medical University, where officials arrived on bicycles.

The Lviv City Council announced this, Rubryka reports.

This format is timed to the European Mobility Week and World Car Free Day, and the idea belongs to First Deputy Mayor Andrii Moskalenko.

The main issues on the agenda are the development of cycling infrastructure in Lviv, the approval of the bicycle network project, considering the communities that have joined the united territorial community, as well as the development of a plan for sustainable urban mobility. Decisions were taken by a majority vote.

"Today, everyone came to the executive committee on a bicycle, someone came on a scooter, some on foot; no one used cars. It's a big plus. Second, we gave impetus to the development of the bicycle network of the Lviv United Community, because it's large and needs to be synchronized so that the same Lysynychi, Hrybovychi, and Dubliany could also use the bicycle structure, like most of the city, and third, on Pekarska Street we urgently need to finalize the project to make it completely beautiful. It's necessary to have more bicycles because it is healthy!" the mayor of Lviv Andrii Sadovyi summed up.

After the meeting, the members of the executive committee rode bicycles from Pekarska Street to Rynok Square, to the City Council, and the heads of district administrations, who also arrived for the meeting in the open air to their workplaces.

According to the Lviv City Council, from March, 10% of the over fulfillment of the development budget will be directed to the development of cycling infrastructure.

This year, funds from the city budget were allocated for the development of four areas of development of bicycle paths in Lviv: Kniahyni Olhy Street – Sakharova Street, UAH 1.8 million; Siaivo Steet, Chornovola Avenue, UAH 5.4 million, as well as UAH 4 million for the "green line" that will connect the Sykhiv district.
