The law on legalization will allow Ukraine to attract tens of billions of dollars of investments, the political expert says

Ukraine can become one of the European leaders in the cultivation of legal cannabis, which will bring huge funds to the state budget. However, this requires the Verkhovna Rada to lay down a rule on the permission to establish farms of certain varieties of cannabis in the law on legalization.

The political expert Mykola Davydiuk told about it in the comment to Rubryka.

He emphasizes that if a law is passed, that will only allow the sale of certain varieties of cannabis, "Ukraine will simply give access to its market to other players." "However, if we become producers, we will have a chance to occupy the whole of Eastern and Central Europe. And this will bring tens of billions of dollars of investment."

"With our logistics and agricultural traditions, we have every chance to take leading positions in this field. And for this Ukraine will need very little time: a year or two," said Davydiuk.

In addition, he notes, the creation of a powerful infrastructure in Ukraine for growing certain varieties of cannabis will allow our producers to enter the markets of other countries, which will also increase budget revenues: "Since to produce for 40 million people is one thing. And for 600 million is quite another."

Therefore, it is extremely important that people's deputies work with an understanding of global markets, and not just try to veiledly demonstrate that by legalizing medical cannabis, they're promoting the possibility of selling it officially. In this case, we will get the usual 'semi-law,' which will not open all the opportunities to Ukraine that it can get," said the political expert.

At the same time, Davydiuk points out that this political autumn is the best time for legalization. Therefore, the relevant law is likely to be adopted.

"Everyone sees that if they don't vote for this law now, it may be too late even in the spring because there may be a prospect of re-election, and we won't see such readiness and such an opportunity when they accept almost everything as it is now. And from what I heard from deputies both on the sidelines, and in private conversations, it follows that they intend to bring the draft law in a hall," the political specialist summarizes.
