World Bank is ready to allocate $230 million to Ukraine under COVAX
The World Bank is ready to allocate $230 million to Ukraine by December 2021 as part of the global COVAX initiative.
The press service of the Ministry of Finance announced this following a meeting between Finance Minister Serhii Marchenko and the World Bank Regional Director for Belarus, Moldova, and Ukraine Arun Banerjee.
The parties discussed the agreement, "Emergency response to COVID-19 and vaccination in Ukraine." Banerjee noted that the bank was ready to allocate $230 million to Ukraine by December 2021 as part of the global COVAX initiative.
The meeting also discussed the allocation of additional funding to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, financial and banking sector reforms, implementing pension reform in Ukraine, and the conditions for obtaining a "Second Economic Development Policy Loan" (DPL).
As reported, the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine and the World Bank signed an agreement in June 2021 to provide Ukraine with a loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development in the amount of $350 million for the "First development policy loan in the field of economic recovery" project.
