Rada proposes to give people the opportunity to vote officials out of office

The "people's rule package" being developed in the Verkhovna Rada wants to provide for voting an official, appointed by the people, out of office.

The First Vice-Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk stated this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine, Rubryka reports.

"I lead a working group that drafts legislation on direct democracy or people's rule. We have a large pull. We have now focused on the two most important ones, the all-Ukrainian and local referendums. In addition, we're currently drafting legislation on recalls, the possibility of recalling an official who is appointed by the people," he said.

Stefanchuk didn't provide other details of the legislative initiative.

According to him, the Verkhovna Rada also plans to introduce elements of direct democracy in the justice field, "feeding" the electronic component. They're developing changes for introducing the justice's court in Ukraine and consider a jury trial.
