Markarova: Ukraine, U.S. have no disagreement that Nord Stream 2 is Russia's geopolitical project

Ukraine and the United States have no disagreement that the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline is Russia's geopolitical project.
Ukraine's Ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova said this in an interview with the Voice of America, according to Ukrinform.
"We have no disagreement about Nord Stream 2 itself. Both we and the United States see it very clearly: it is a geopolitical project of the Russian Federation, and we understand what risks it poses not only to Ukraine but to the region as a whole," Markarova said.
She noted that the decision on sanctions is a sovereign right of the United States, regardless of whether Ukrainians like it or not.
"But we see absolutely that the United States is interested in continuing to work with us to ensure that Nord Stream 2 does not become a weapon against Ukraine and the region. We continue to work actively against Nord Stream 2, providing our partners with information on all companies," Markarova said.
