Ukrainian covid certificates recognized in the EU since August 20

The European Commission today decided on mutual recognition of covid certificates for Northern Macedonia, Turkey, and Ukraine. This means that certificates issued in these countries will be accepted in the EU on the same terms as EU digital certificates.

This is stated in a statement published on the website of the European Commission.

Northern Macedonia, Turkey, and Ukraine have reportedly agreed to accept EU digital certificates in response, allowing them to travel from the EU to their countries.

"The three decisions adopted today will take effect tomorrow, August 20, 2021," the statement said.

According to a draft document previously published on the European Commission's website, on August 4, at Ukraine's request, the European Commission conducted technical tests to demonstrate that the COVID-19 vaccination certificates issued by Diia were compatible with the system established by EU regulations.

It's noted that Ukraine has informed the European Commission that it will issue COVID-19 vaccination certificates with vaccines: Vaxzevria (AstraZeneca), Comirnaty (Pfizer / BioNTech), Spikevax (Moderna), 19 Janssen (Johnson & Johnson), non-activated CoronaVac (Sinovac), Covishield (AstraZeneca) і NVX-CoV2373 (Novavax).

It is noted that in addition to a certification of vaccination, the EC also intends to recognize Ukrainian certificates of testing for COVID-19 and recovery from coronavirus in accordance with European Commission regulations.

Ukraine has informed the European Commission that when Ukraine's inspectors check certificates, the personal data included in them will be processed only to verify and confirm the owner's vaccination, test result, or recovery status and will not be subsequently retained.
