Deputy Foreign Minister Yevhen Yenin explained how the situation in Afghanistan can affect Ukraine.

Ukraine 24 reports.

"Certainly, the aggravating security situation in Afghanistan could lead to a deteriorating security situation in Central Asia in general. And since the world is quite globalized, all this will have a direct impact on the security and migration situation in Ukraine. We don't forget the long-honed methods of Russia and Belarus, which have repeatedly demonstrated the ability to worsen or negatively affect the security or migration situation in partner countries, including the EU," he said.

Yenin assured that the authorities were doing everything possible to counteract the potential threat.

"We cannot rule out that a similar situation may occur this time, that the Russian side will make the most of the opportunity to negatively affect the migration situation in Ukraine. We're not sitting idly by, but strengthening coordination within the country with our international partners to minimize the relevant risks and ensure the safety of our citizens at the appropriate level," he said.

To recap, the Taliban offensive intensified in Afghanistan when US and NATO troops began completing the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan this summer.

On August 13, the Taliban seized two major Afghan cities, the second and third largest in the country, after Kabul, Kandahar, and Herat. A day later, the Taliban took control of four more capitals in the Afghan provinces. On August 14, the Taliban captured Mazar-e-Sharif, a large sheltered city in northern Afghanistan. So far, the Taliban has stopped at the entrances to the Afghan capital, Kabul.

Meanwhile, crowds of Afghans are trying to leave the country, they staged a riot at Kabul airport. People even tried to fly, clinging to the landing gear and other parts of the aircraft, some of them died, falling off the plane while gaining altitude.
