The Ministry of Defense is working on completing the "Volodymyr Velykyi" ship, which will be able to replace the "Hetman Sahaidachnyi" frigate in the combat force of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces.

The press service of the Ministry of Defense announced this, Rubryka reports.

"Together with the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the issue of completing the ship is being worked out in the 'frigate' class. In this format, "Volodymyr Velykyi" will be able to replace "Hetman Sahaidachnyi" in the Navy," Defense Minister Andrii Taran said.

Currently, the preparedness of "Volodymyr Velykyi" is 17%, and its elements are located on the territory of the former Black Sea Shipyard.

In particular, blocks 1-7 of the primary body of the ship and block 8 of the ship's superstructure were made. Part of the equipment of national and foreign production was also purchased.

According to the latest estimates, about 8.3 billion hryvnias are needed to complete "Volodymyr Velykyi," not including ammunition.

According to Taran, the components of the ship will be moved to the capacity of one of the domestic shipyards to preserve them and further complete the ship. It will take about 4 months.

The Minister also said that the total amount of funds already invested in the construction and design of "Volodymyr Velykyi" was almost 569 million hryvnias (at the rate of 1 dollar – 8 hryvnias).
