On August 5, new stricter border crossing control rules came into force in Ukraine, introduced because of the spread of a new "Delta" strain in the world.

Rubryka reports.

As of today, crossing the state border from any country is unimpeded for citizens of Ukraine, provided that they have a document confirming a full course of vaccination with COVID-19 vaccines included in the WHO list of permitted vaccines for emergencies, or a certificate of the first vaccination course.

Foreigners with a permanent residence permit in Ukraine cross the border without hindrance if they have a document confirming a full course of vaccination.

If such documents aren't available, citizens of Ukraine and foreigners with a permanent residence permit in Ukraine install the Diia application and undertake to start self-isolation after 72 hours if they don't have a negative COVID-19 test on by PCR or rapid testing for antigen SARS-CoV-2, made within 72 hours from the moment of crossing the border.

If it's impossible to use the application, the citizen will be under observation.

The Diia application doesn't control or restrict the user's movement for the first 72 hours after crossing the border. It will monitor self-isolation from the third day or in case of a positive COVID-19 test by PCR or rapid testing for SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus antigen.

All persons, regardless of nationality, who came from Russia or India and stayed in these countries for more than 7 days in the last two weeks, will be subject to stricter rules of self-isolation. In particular, they will be required to self-isolate for 14 days without the right to terminate it early.

Foreigners must have a COVID-19 insurance policy and one of the following documents:

  • a negative result of COVID-19 testing by PCR;
  • a negative result of rapid testing for the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus antigen or a document confirming a full course of COVID-19 vaccination.
