Ukraine’s mission to NATO is headed by a woman for the first time: what’s know about her

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed Natalia Halibarenko, Head of Ukraine's mission to NATO.

The relevant decree №334/2021 of July 30 is posted on the website of the Office of the President, Rubryka reports.

"To appoint Natalia Halibarenko as the Head of Ukraine's mission to NATO," the document reads.

As reported, on July 20, 2020, President Zelenskyy dismissed Natalia Halibarenko from the post of Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and appointed Vadym Prystaiko to this post.

To recap, on September 25, 2015, by a decree of the President of Ukraine, Halibarenko was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United Kingdom, Permanent Representative to the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

Facts about Natalia Halibarenko

• From March 9, 2014, to August 2015, she worked as the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs; a member of the Ukrainian part of the Advisory Committee of the Presidents of Ukraine and the Republic of Poland.
• Since August 26, 2015, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United Kingdom. Since September 25, 2015, the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) part-time; has participated in numerous bilateral and multilateral negotiation processes in Ukraine, including within the EU, NATO, the Council of Europe, the OSCE, and other international organizations.
• On July 20, 2020, she was relieved of her post as Ambassador to the UK, and Vadym Prystaiko took her post.
