EastCode 2021: the final of the National contest of innovative solutions

The final of The National contest of innovative solutions for communities of eastern Ukraine EastCode 2021 will take place on August the 5th, when the names of the winners will be announced.

Winners will receive grant support from The United Nations Recovery and Peacebuilding Programme (UN RPP) and will be able to pilot their decisions in the communities of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts.

Traditionally, EastCode 2021 takes place in three stages: application submission, semi-final with mentoring sessions and final with online pitching.

This year, 312 participants applied to EastCode, 60 best projects were selected for the semifinals, and about 20 leading teams of the competition will reach the finals.

In the final of the contest, the participants will present the projects to the general public and, most importantly, to the honorary jury, which will select the winners of the contest.

EastCode 2021

Agenda:

  • 16:00-16:30 – launch of the broadcast and welcome speeches of the organisers
  • 16: 30-18:30 – project presentations. Each finalist team shall have 3 minutes to pitch and up to 3 minutes answering questions from the jury
  • 18:30-19:30 – break, jury discussion of the projects
  • 19:30 – winners announcement.

Background:

The National Contest of Innovative Solutions for Communities of Eastern Ukraine EastCode 2021 is organised by the Center42 Innovation Agency and the Happy Monday career acceleration company within the UN Recovery and Peacebuilding Programme and in partnership with the Donetsk and Luhansk Oblast State Administrations with financial support of Denmark, Sweden and Switzerland.

The United Nations Recovery and Peacebuilding Programme (UN RPP) is being implemented by four United Nations agencies: the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO).

Twelve international partners support the Programme: the European Union (EU), the European Investment Bank (EIB), the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, and the governments of Canada, Denmark, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden & Switzerland.
