Almost 22 tons of batteries sent from Ukraine to Romania for recycling
The first battery truck in 2021 went from Ukraine to the GreenWEEE plant for processing. This includes 21.9 tons of batteries.
The NGO "Batteries, Surrender" writes about it.
Batteries were collected in:
🔋 Epicenter K retail chains, WOG filling stations network, and JYSK Ukraine
❤️ 71+ companies and organizations that donated their batteries, paying for their disposal (learn more: batareiky.in.ua/boxes)
"🤔 Why did we send as many as 7 trucks last year, and now it's the middle of the year, and we only loaded the first car? The reason is that few batteries are being collected. In 2020, when we first set up recycling Ukrainian batteries in Europe, stocks of batteries we sent that had been collected in Ukraine for the last 5-8 years, now it will be more difficult to collect and send the same amount per year. In 2021, we have sent only 0.7% of the annual import of new batteries to Ukraine for recycling, and we already have half of the next truck in stock," the activists say.
⚡️ How to help more batteries in Ukraine go for recycling and not to the soil?
— Order a box to collect batteries in your office. Contacts: 099-311-67-96, 097-168-55-76
— Spread information and tell your friends about the 9 retail chains that already reliably collect batteries with us – accept 20-50 batteries per visit
— Contribute to the work of the NGO "Batteries, surrender" so that they expand the collection network and resume collection in schools and buildings (every 50 UAH/month, 100 UAH/month matter)
"Our goal is 100% of batteries in Ukraine to send for recycling, not to the soil. And we'll achieve it together, just as for the first time in the history of our country we started sending batteries for recycling," activists believe.
