"My primary task as a minister will be the security of citizens, the state, increasing public confidence in law enforcement agencies," he said.

Monastyrskyi named the installation of video surveillance cameras and counteraction to drug distribution as his priorities.

Denys Monastyrskyi is the People's Deputy from the "Servant of the People" party. President Volodymyr Zelenskyi proposed his candidacy for the Interior Minister position.

"He offered me as a person, part of the team, as the head of the profile committee, as a person who, in the president's opinion, will be able to lead this area," the people's deputy said.

What is known about Monastyrskyi?

Denys Monastyrskyi was born in Khmelnytskyi on June 12, 1980. He graduated from the Law Faculty of the Khmelnytsky University of Management and Law; he's a Ph.D. in Law. Monastyrskyi headed the department of lawmaking and scientific expertise of the research part of the Khmelnytsky University of Management and Law and was an associate professor.

He's a co-founder and a member of the board of the Podolsk Youth Cultural Association "To the Future through Culture." In 2013, he was recognized as the best volunteer of the year by the results of the National Volunteer of the Year competition.

In 2007, he worked as a lawyer at Hillmont Partners, at Global Ties KC in 2009; in 2015-2017, he was a lawyer at Legal Consulting LLC.

In 2019, he was introduced as an expert of Volodymyr Zelenskyi's team on law enforcement reform. In the VIII convocation of the Verkhovna Rada, Monastyrskyi was an assistant-consultant on a voluntary basis of the People's Deputy Anton Herashchenko, who is now Arsen Avakov's closest ally.

Monastyrskyi was the secretary of the competition commission, selecting the State Bureau of Investigation leadership. He's an expert in reforming the law enforcement and judicial system of the Ukrainian Institute of the Future, a member of the Main Council of the Ukrainian Society for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments.

In 2019, he passed to the Verkhovna Rada of the IX convocation on the list of the Servant of the People party under number 19. In parliament, he headed the committee on law enforcement. The CHESNO movement as of July 24, 2020, calls him one of the people's deputies who submitted the most draft laws.

According to the portal Slovo I Dilo, in the status, the People's Deputy Monastyrskyi fulfilled 19 of his promises out of 99 (19%), failed 3; 77 are in the process of fulfillment.

Denys Monastyrskyi is married and has two sons. His wife, Zhanna Monastyrska, is the head of the representation and forensic department at the State Bureau of Investigation.
