Ministry of Health will investigate possible sale of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine in Kyiv

According to information provided by the media about the possible sale of the COVID-19 vaccine produced by Pfizer-BioNTech, in one of the private hospitals in Kyiv, the Ministry of Health will initiate an official investigation.

The press service of the Ministry of Health stated this, Rubryka reports.

"Vaccination is the only effective way to combat a pandemic. First and foremost, those who are at occupational and age risk or have a chronic illness need protection. The state guarantees protection against coronavirus infection to anyone, but due to the shortage of vaccines around the world, it provides access to immunization gradually, according to the Roadmap. Trading in vaccines today means putting those who should've received this dose of the drug at risk," Health Minister Viktor Liashko said.

He added that the Ministry of Health was increasing the infrastructure and attracting private institutions and private doctors. They can set vaccination points or mobile COVID-19 immunization teams and vaccinate citizens in different regions of Ukraine by concluding contracts with the National Health Insurance Fund. Accordingly, they receive certain types of vaccines for work.

AstraZeneca (Covishield, SKBio) and CoronaVac from Sinovac Biotech are available at vaccination points and mass vaccination centers. They are also used by mobile teams to vaccinate certain at-risk groups and critical infrastructure workers.

The Comirnaty/ Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is available for immunization only by mobile teams, they also vaccinate certain risk groups, educators, and organized groups that have registered their applications in the contact center of the Ministry of Health.

"A lot of attention has been paid to vaccination now, but we still received reports of possible power abuse with vaccines. We thank the media for vigilance and information. We immediately responded and began to understand the situation," Viktor Liashko added.
