Ukrainian has become mandatory for hotels In Egypt, all new museums will have Ukrainian audio guides

The Ukrainian language has become mandatory for Egyptian hotels where Ukraine's travelers stay.

The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of Egypt Khaled El-Enany stated this during a press conference with Ukrainian journalists in Cairo.

The government has instructed tourism workers to duplicate information materials in hotels in Ukrainian. Egypt is also interested in Ukrainian-speaking staff. And soon the tourist hotline will start working, where Ukrainian will also be used, the Egyptian government promised.

"I was in Ukraine on an official visit. And it was the first request I received. Tourists love when they get services in Ukrainian in the hotels they come to. Upon my return, we asked hotels to use Ukrainian wherever possible. Now the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Agency is also setting up a hotline for travelers with Ukrainian. And it will start working very soon. Ukrainians will be able to call and communicate in their native language soon," Egyptian Tourism and Antiquities Minister Khaled El-Enany said.

There will also be Ukrainian audio guides in all new and renovated museums in Egypt.

"I asked the Ukrainian embassy for an audio guide via a QR code that can be downloaded and listened to," El-Enany said.

The Minister said that last year new historical museums were opened in the most popular recreation places for Ukrainians, Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada, and this year, the Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Cairo. In the near future, they plan to create 20 new ones plus the annual renewal of 20% of existing museums. All of them will have Ukrainian audio guides.

In 2018 and 2019, Ukraine was in second place in the number of tourists coming to Egypt. In 2019, about 1.5 million Ukrainian tourists visited Egypt, and since the resumption of tourism in 2020, Ukraine is the first source of outbound tourism in Egypt.
