Ukraine defeats Sweden and gets to 1/4 of European Championship for the first time in history

On Tuesday, June 29, the national team of Ukraine defeated Sweden in the 1/8 finals of the European Football Championship.

The match between the national teams of Ukraine and Sweden took place in Glasgow (Scotland) at the Hampden Park stadium, which seats 52 thousand spectators and was filled to a quarter.

The national team of Ukraine successfully started the match and took the lead in the 27th minute. Andrii Yarmolenko broke into the penalty area on the right and gave an excellent pass to the left to Oleksandr Zinchenko, who knocked the ball into the net.

Sweden played back in the 43rd minute; Emil Forsberg scored with a powerful shot from outside the penalty area.

The teams didn't find a stronger in the normal playing time, and the game went into overtime.

In the 99th minute, the Swedish team remained in the minority after the removal of Marcus Danielson, who played with an outstretched leg against Artem Besedin. The injured Ukrainian striker had to be replaced by Viktor Tsyhankov.

Andrii Yarmolenko, who was replaced by Artem Dovbyk, also failed to reach the second extra half due to injuries.

It was he who brought victory to Ukraine at the end of overtime.

Thus, for the first time in history, Ukraine reached the quarterfinals of Euro 2020.

In the quarterfinals, the national team of Ukraine will meet England on July 3 in Rome.
