How to travel in Egypt on your own: a special app will appear for tourists

Egypt will launch a special application for tourists traveling alone.

The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of Egypt Khaled El-Enany told Rubryka about this.

Today, the most popular format of tourism for Ukrainians is all-inclusive in the seaside resorts of South Sinai and the Red Sea, especially in the cities of Sharm el-Sheikh, Hurghada, and Marsala. According to the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of Egypt Khaled El-Enany, now Egypt is working to attract Ukrainian tourists not only to resort areas but also to cities and places of cultural and historical significance, which aren't limited to the Great Pyramids of Giza. Yes, the combination of cultural and maritime recreation is a new priority for Egypt.

"Our aim is to combine leisure culture, combine the sea resorts with the Nile Valley. We're very glad that Ukrainian tourists, in the very near future, can come to visit the resorts, enjoy sun and sea and water activities but also visit Cairo, Luxor, Aswan. That's why we're seriously working on building high-speed roads between all the resorts and destinations of the Nile Valley, especially Luxor, Aswan, and Cairo. We're also increasing the number of flights between Sharm el-Sheikh, Hurghada, Marsala, and the Nile Valley. This is the new product we're trying to promote, combining the resorts and culture in the Nile Valley," the Minister of Tourism shared with Rubryka.

In addition, the focus of the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism is independent travel of tourists. Today, most Ukrainians come to Egypt through travel agencies, but Khaled El-Enany believes the pandemic has made more people want to travel alone rather than in groups to avoid crowds.

"So now we're working on enhancing our website and also creating a new mobile app for tourists to facilitate their stay in Egypt. And tourists can come to the Egyptian resorts — Sharm el-Sheikh, Hurghada, Marsala — on their own if they wish because everything is easy there, you can find all the facilities that you need in the hotel, travel agencies for the excursions [already here, on-site – ed.]," the Minister said.

According to Khaled El-Enany, through the application, tourists will be able to book flights, museum tickets, and even sightseeing programs. They plan to launch the application in no more than three months.
