Ukrainian Symphony Orchestra won gold at World Orchestra Festival, and a Lviv resident became the best conductor of the year

At the World Orchestra Festival, which took place in Vienna the day before, on June 26, Oksana Lyniv from Lviv became the best conductor of the year, and the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine won gold among more than 140 orchestras from 33 countries.

The world-famous Ukrainian conductor Oksana Lyniv announced this on her Facebook page.

"Thank you to the jury for the Outstanding conductor Award 2021, which was awarded to me among all other conductors of the festival, and the Gold Award for the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine. More than 140 orchestras from 33 countries took part in the festival," Lyniv wrote.

The winners were awarded for the performance of two Ukrainian pieces, the symphonic poem "Reunification" by Borys Liatoshynskyi and the 2nd Symphony by Yevhen Stankovych. Recordings of symphonies that took part in the competition were made with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation.

The Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine/YsOU is a unique project that brings together talented young musicians from all over Ukraine aged 12 to 22. Created on the initiative of Oksana Lyniv with the support of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Goethe-Institut, the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, the Beethoven Festival in Bonn (BeethovenFest Bonn), and in partnership with the LvivMozArt festival.
