Switzerland to implement organic school meals project in Ukraine
Switzerland will work on the launch of organic meals in a number of schools in Ukraine as part of a pilot project.
Ambassador of Switzerland to Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova Claude Wild made a corresponding announcement during the All-Ukrainian Forum "Ukraine 30. Healthy Ukraine" on June 23, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
According to him, given the increase in consumption of organic products in Ukraine, they should appear in school meals. Wild is convinced that the public procurement mechanism must be adapted for the selection of organic products.
"We, Switzerland, will not only talk about it – we will do it as part of a pilot project that involves experimenting with this vision in certain schools. I hope we will be able to present the results," the diplomat said.
The Ambassador added that Switzerland supported the development of the organic sector in Ukraine. Moreover, Ukraine ranks second among exporters of organic products to the European Union.
As reported, in May, the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) signed an agreement to expand assistance to Ukraine under the E-governance for Accountability and Participation (EGAP) program up to CHF 6.3 million (UAH 193.7 million).
