Ukraine joins European association HOTREC

Ukraine has become a member of HOTREC, the European association of hotels, restaurants and cafes.

Head of the State Agency for Tourism Development Maryana Oleskiv announced this at a press conference, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"It's a very big step. We joined HOTREC. Everyone has been talking about this for many years, but there have always been obstacles for this. If you really want, everything works out, as we can see. It's a great victory for our hotel environment," said Oleskiv.

In turn, President of the Ukrainian Hotel & Resort Association (UHRA) Iryna Sidletska said that after joining HOTREC, Ukraine would have the opportunity of constant monitoring of the hotel environment and support from international NGOs in the systemic development of the Ukrainian hotel and restaurant industry.

"HOTREC's profile is the support and systematic development of enterprises operating in the HoReCa industry, ie hotels, restaurants, catering establishments," said Sidletska.

HOTREC is the umbrella association of hotels, restaurants, bar and cafes in the European community, established in 1979 in Paris and later transformed in 1991 in Brussels. It brings together 46 associations in 34 countries. HOTREC positions itself as an expert platform of the European hospitality industry.
