National Security and Defense Council imposes sanctions on Firtash and Fuks
The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine imposed sanctions on Dmytro Firtash and Pavel Fuks.
"Today, a full set of sanctions, which we can apply in accordance with our legislation, was imposed on Russian businessman Pavel Fuks," Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov said at a briefing after the NSDC meeting on June 18.
In addition, sanctions were imposed on Dmytro Firtash.
Danilov explained that the sanctions against Fuks were imposed over the activities of the Golden Derrick company, against Firtash – over "his involvement in titanium business."
"[Sanctions were imposed] over titanium business, the supply of raw materials which then are delivered to – as by our Security Service officers – a military enterprise in the Russian Federation. We cannot tolerate this further," Danilov said.
According to him, the National Security and Defense Council also imposed sanctions on the companies which are directly affiliated with the defense industry complex of the Russian Federation that uses titanium in the military sphere.
The NSDC Secretary also noted that sanctions against Pavel Fuks were imposed due to the situation around the Golden Derrick company that received licenses for oil and gas exploration and production in 2012-2013 out of competition.
In this regard, Danilov stressed that the National Security and Defense Council "will not allow any people to receive preferences from the state, and it does not matter when it happened because the sub-soil assets are Ukraine's strategic resource."
