Ukraine defeats Northern Macedonia at Euro 2020

The national team of Ukraine won the first victory at Euro 2020, beating Northern Macedonia with a score of 2:1.

In the 57th minute, Northern Macedonia won the right to a penalty after a hard match between Oleksandr Karavaiev and Goran Pandev. Goalkeeper of the national team of Ukraine Heorhii Bushchan deflected the shot of Ezgian Alioski, but the Macedonian successfully played on the finish and reduced the gap in the score.

In the 84th minute, the national team of Ukraine also received the right to a penalty, which was awarded by the Argentine referee Fernando Rapallini after watching VAR; he handed the ball to the Macedonian football player in the hand after a free-kick. However, Ruslan Malinowski was unable to beat the goalkeeper.

The national team of Ukraine defeated Northern Macedonia 2:1, scored 3 points, and caught up with the Netherlands and Austria, which also have 3 points each and will play their second-round match today in Amsterdam at 22:00.

In the final round of the group round, on Monday, June 21, Ukraine will meet Austria in Bucharest, and Northern Macedonia will play in Amsterdam against the Netherlands.
