Zelenskyi assumes that Biden and Putin meeting results won't be specific

President Volodymyr Zelenskyi believes that the fact of the presidents of the United States and Russia meeting is already a result, but suggests that the results of these talks will not be specific.

He said this in a joint interview with Agence France-Presse, Reuters, and the Associated Press on June 14, the full text of which is published on the website of the Office of the President.

"Do we expect any results as a state? I think the entire world is waiting. I say this openly and I'm happy because when people sit down and talk, even if they come out without results, it's the result of their meeting," Zelenskyi said.

Speaking about the fears, President noted the possible lack of specifics.

When asked by a journalist if there was any feeling that Putin and Biden could agree on Ukraine without Ukraine, Zelenskyi replied:

"As for the classic phrase 'Don't decide for Ukraine without Ukraine,' I think it's very fair. But it doesn't work completely. No matter how many officials in Ukraine, the EU, or other heads of state try to do so, they will talk about it. I think there's nothing terrible in this. But it's impossible to decide for Ukraine."

According to him, it is "unrealistic" to decide something for Ukraine without Ukraine.

"And they'll talk without us, it's clear. We're not invited to this meeting, therefore, I consider, and there'll be no definite result. To tell frankly, nobody knows Russians better than Ukrainians. Nobody knows Ukraine better than Russians, so we clearly understand that there'll be no agreement on Ukraine without Ukraine between Russia and the United States," Zelenskyi said.

As reported, the summit of US and Russian Presidents Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin will be held on June 16 in Geneva.
