Zelenskyi: War with Russia can come to American homes

The war with Russia may come to the homes of Americans, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi told CBS News.

This is stated in the report of the TV channel, which visited the front line in eastern Ukraine at Zelenskyi's invitation, Ukrinform reports.

"A few days before the summit of US President Joe Biden and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, during which Ukraine will be at the top of the agenda," the report said, "we asked Zelenskyi why ordinary Americans should be concerned about the conflict in his country. It's thousands of miles from their own. 'It (the war with Russia – ed.) may come to their homes tomorrow," he said.

This may seem far-fetched, journalists say, but experts say Russian hackers are using Ukraine as a testing ground, in particular, to attack its power system, and then use similar tactics in the United States.

"When tens of thousands of Russian troops were drawn to the Ukrainian border earlier this year, some saw it not only as an attempt to intimidate America's ally but also as a threat to the United States and its allies," the report said.

According to their observations, Zelenskyi, like many Ukrainians, believes that Putin has neo-imperial ambitions for Russia to regain control of his neighbors.

"They don't want to make us free," CBS News quoted the President of Ukraine as saying.

Later, on April 22, Putin announced that he was ready to meet with Zelenskyi in Moscow, but that the issue of ending the war in eastern Ukraine would be discussed only after talks between the Ukrainian authorities and the leaders of the "DNR" and "LNR."

In particular, according to Putin, if Zelenskyi wants to discuss bilateral relations, he invites him to Moscow, and if to discuss the "problems of Donbas," Putin offered to do so with the leaders of the "DNR" and "LNR."
