Famous dancer and director Hryhorii Chapkis dies at 91.

It is reported that the famous dancer and choreographer has recently fallen ill. In particular, in December 2020 he was hospitalized with pneumonia. Chapkis was also hospitalized with liver disease in January 2021.
Recently, Chapkis was in the hospital again, noting that his arms and legs were paralyzed. The dancer also lost a lot of weight.
The son of the legendary Ukrainian choreographer Hryhorii Chapkis, Hreh, confirmed the sad news of the dancer's death.
He told about it in conversation with TSN journalists. According to Hreh Chapkis, his father passed away about an hour ago. Hryhorii Chapkis' son also noted that he had passed away due to his age.
"At about 10 p.m. We're all still shocked. He died because he's old. A 92-year-old man, everything started to fail. He behaved well. He's old, it's a pain," Hreh Chapkis said.
Hreh said he planned to fly to come to the funeral, but he and his family have yet to decide on all the details. Hryhorii Chapkis' son shared that his daughter, Hreh's sister, Lilia, had been with his father in recent days. His wife Mila was also with Chapkis until the end.
"We haven't decided yet what and how. My sister is there next to him now. His wife Mila was there, she helped all this time. She's great," Hreh Chapkis said.

Hryhorii Chapkis was born on February 24, 1930, in Chisinau, and after the war, he moved with his family to Kyiv. In the first years of his life in the capital of Ukraine, he worked as a builder on Khreshchatyk, which was intensively rebuilt after the war.
He graduated from the Kyiv University of Culture, and before that he studied at Railway College.
He was a soloist of the Pavlo Virsky Ensemble, choreographer of the Ivan Franko Theater, Deputy Director of the Drama and Comedy Theatre, People's Artist of Ukraine.
In 2006, Chapkis first became a judge on the show, Dancing with the Stars. At this age, he easily drove a car, conducted many rehearsals, and in 2007, the choreographer opened his dance school. At 90, he boasted of excellent physical training. As Chapkis himself said, the secret of his energy was in women and constant movement.
Hryhorii Chapkis is the father of two children, Lilia (1958) and Hreh (1979). At 90, the choreographer married for the fourth time to a woman of the same age as his granddaughter.
