Zelenskyi's Office edited statement following a conversation with Biden
The words of Biden's support for Ukraine's NATO MAP have disappeared from the text.
The Office of the President of Ukraine amended the statement following a telephone conversation between Presidents Volodymyr Zelenskyi and Joseph Biden.
Thus, the text that the US President stressed the importance of providing Ukraine with a NATO Membership Action Plan has disappeared from the text. The American publication Axios noticed the changes.
"Ukrainians misunderstood this statement and corrected the text," a US National Security Council spokesperson told reporters.
Now, the statement only says that Biden "assured that Ukraine's position will be taken into account when discussing strategic issues in NATO, as well as planned top-level events."
According to journalists, the statement was amended in the evening of June 7, shortly after the telephone conversation of the presidents.
