Ukraine reports the suspicion to an adviser to Russia's defense minister
An adviser to the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation was informed about the notice of suspicion due to blocking the military unit of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the occupation of Crimea.
The press service of the Prosecutor General's Office announced this, Rubryka reports.
"Prosecutors of the Department for Supervision of Criminal Proceedings in Armed Conflict, the Office of the Prosecutor General, have informed about suspicions to the Colonel-General of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, who currently holds the position of Adviser to the Minister of Defense, of aiding and abetting to change the state border of Ukraine, incitement to commit treason, aiding and abetting an aggressive war (Part 5 of Article 27, Part 3 of Article 110, Part 4 of Article 27, Part 1 of Article 111, Part 5 of Article 27, part 2 of Article 28, part 2 of Article 437 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)," the message said.
According to the investigation, in February-March 2014, the suspect commanded the Southern Military District of the RF Armed Forces and organized the encirclement by armored personnel carriers and blockade of military unit A2272 of the 1st Marine Battalion of the Ukrainian Navy, one of the most capable military units to repulse armed aggression.
In addition, it was established that the Colonel-General of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, threatening the use of physical violence and weapons by servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, incited officers of the 1st Marine Battalion of the Ukrainian Navy and the Coastal and Territorial Defense Department to treason, and defect to the enemy's side during the conflict.
Prosecutors of the Prosecutor General's Office and investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the Security Service of Ukraine continue to collect evidence of involvement of government officials and officials of the Russian Armed Forces in unleashing and waging an aggressive war against Ukraine and other crimes leading to the occupation of Crimea.
