Ukraine receives the first batch of Pfizer vaccine purchased at state expense

The first batch of Pfizer & BioNTech vaccines purchased at the expense of the state budget was delivered to Ukraine.

According to Ukrinform, the vaccines were delivered by plane to Sikorsky Kyiv International Airport.

The Pfizer vaccine was purchased on behalf of the Government of Ukraine by the international procurement agency Crown Agents.

As reported by Rubryka, the COVID-19 vaccination began in Ukraine on February 24, 2021.

On April 6, Ukraine reached an agreement with Pfizer to supply 10 million doses of the vaccine. According to the government's decision, the purchase is done through Crown Agents.

In total, according to the Ministry of Health, Ukraine has contracted and should receive 42 million doses of vaccines by the end of 2021 – 20 million doses of Pfizer vaccines, 2 million doses of AstraZeneca, 10 million NovaVax, and 1.9 million doses of Sinovac/CoronaVac.

As well as 8 million doses of vaccines from the global initiative COVAX.
