Herashchenko names Ukraine's safest region

Deputy Interior Minister Anton Herashchenko believes that the Zhytomyr region is one of the safest regions in Ukraine.

He stated this in Zhytomyr during the presentation of the "Community Police Officer" project, Ukrinform reports.

"It's safer in the Zhytomyr region than in many other regions of Ukraine. 100% of murders in the region, which, unfortunately, were 14, have been solved. 80% of robberies are being solved. The patrol police are honest in their work," Herashchenko said.

According to him, security on the streets of cities and towns of the Zhytomyr region is a matter not only of the work of the police but also of state and local authorities.

The Deputy Minister stressed that the level of security of citizens was assessed by the authorities, and this indicator also influences investors who decide whether to invest money and build production facilities in the region.

"The example of local authorities allocating money for purchasing vehicles for community police officers means that the Zhytomyr city authorities understand that their safety depends on the quality of police work, its mobility, and the proximity of police officers to citizens," Herashchenko added.

The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs called on the leaders of the regional communities to increase the number of video surveillance cameras on the streets of settlements for their safety and assistance to the police in solving crimes.
