Conflict in the east is easier to freeze - Zelenskyi
During a press conference on May 20, the President of Ukraine commented on the situation in eastern Ukraine and stressed that freezing the conflict was one of the possible options.
Rubryka reports.
Of the many questions concerning the situation with Russia's military aggression in eastern Ukraine, Zelenskyi was asked directly: "Is freezing the situation in the east a betrayal or a victory for us?" This was one of the last questions Zelenskyi seemed to have prepared a speech in advance for:
"I think a lot about this topic, talking to experts who went through the war, faced such issues. Our case is one of the most difficult. We have a chess game where, although you're white, you immediately had half of the pieces, without many things that would help me a lot. 99% depends on the Russian Federation. I don't know if they can be proud of that or not, but they are.
The issue of freezing the conflict is 1%, which I speak openly about and which I clung to… This is a great war, a great information war. That's why we cling to this percentage so as not to freeze the conflict because I think it's easier to freeze. There will be no betrayal, everything will be fine, it will be fine politically. Well, it didn't work out… Many countries live like that.
I'm not afraid of questions, hotheads who shout something, and, unfortunately, they're pushed by politicians with various steps. I'm not afraid of anything. I now feel that I understand exactly what I am doing. I'm not afraid of anything. I know where I'm going, I know why. Only forward, I live with this faith," Volodymyr Zelenskyi answered.
