Museum Day: which Kyiv museums you should visit this week
This Tuesday, May 18, Museum Day is celebrated all over the world: symbolically, it is on this night that museums open their doors to visitors who may see the exhibits at an unusual time, and even perhaps imagine themselves as the heroes of the Night at the Museum movie.
Rubryka has prepared an announcement of events in Kyiv, dedicated to the Day of the Museum, which will be held this day and in the coming days.
Night at the Science Museum
The event's theme is "The Future of Museums: Restoration and Rethinking" with elements of digitalization. Visitors should activate the exhibits themselves, guided by voice and light prompts, including an interactive sandbox, a square-wheeled bicycle, a human puzzle, an air cannon, acoustic mirrors, and many other interactive exhibits. Upon completion, guests are waiting for scientific games: museum mafia, the geometry of imagination, dobble. The event will last up to 22 hours.

Night at the National Art Museum of Ukraine
From 11:00 to 15:30, entry to the museum is free. Both floors of the permanent exposition are available for view and the exhibition projects "Discipline the Vision" by Lada Nakonechna and "Oleh Sokolov: Color, Music, Word". A quest with museum expositions has been prepared for visitors with children. At the administrative desk in the museum's lobby, you'll find printed QR-codes leading to quest questions. Only the most attentive museum detectives will find the right answers.
Excursions will take place from 16:00 to 20:00. You can visit them for free by prior registration. Please note that registration for each tour is separate, as places are limited due to quarantine restrictions. The tour schedule can be viewed here.

Anatomical Theater at the National Museum of Medicine in Ukraine
It's not only the largest medical museum in Ukraine but all of Europe! The updated installations will appeal to even the most experienced viewer; here you can even pass a quest with experiments in the Anatomical Theater, repeating the attempts of scientists of past centuries to create man from chemical elements. Entry to Museum Day will be free, but only by appointment on a tour; due to the exhibition's technical features, you can't get to the museum without a tour. International Museum Day at the National Museum of History of Ukraine
Entrance to the museum will be free throughout the day, and guests will be offered a morning tour of Kyiv and tours of the museum at discounted prices. The most "mysterious" tour begins at 21:00 and is dedicated to the myths of museum exhibits. In addition, the exhibition "Serge Lifar. Flight of Icarus" opens, dedicated to the French dancer and choreographer from Kyiv Serge Lifar. You need to register for the tour in advance, and tickets can be purchased online. Bosch with you! And other interesting things in the Khanenko Museum
A rich cultural program has also been prepared at the Khanenko Museum especially for International Museum Day. Entry to the museum on May 18 will be free, at 14:00 and 16:00, mosaics will be discussed in small groups: participants will be able to share their impressions, thoughts, associations with other viewers.
Registration is required to participate in a group meeting. The exhibition "Temptations of Jerome Bosch II. Research and Restoration" will be open until 16:00. A question-and-answer session with project curator Olena Zhivkova will begin at 4:30 p.m. More information here.

"36 INSTALLATIONS" in the Museum of the History of Kyiv
Until May 25, the museum will host Kyiv artist Olena Bandurka's exhibition, "36 installations"; 36 is exactly as many years the artist and project creator is old. Each exhibition object symbolizes one of the artist's years. It will be interesting for those who care about environmental issues. Olena works mainly in the style of eco-art and is convinced that sorting garbage, recycling, and a responsible attitude toward natural resources can make the world we live in better.
