Zelenskyi approves lifelong scholarships for people who rescued Jews from Holocaust
President Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed Decree № 193/2021 "On Lifetime State Scholarships for Citizens of Ukraine Who Rescued Jews in Ukraine in the Holocaust during the Second World War."
This was reported on the website of the President of Ukraine.
This ensures proper honoring of the courage, self-sacrifice, and humanism of Ukrainians who saved Jews during this period and were awarded the title of Righteous Among the Nations or Jews by the Israel Institute of Disaster and Heroism of the National Memorial of the Holocaust and Yad Vashem Heroism, Righteous of Ukraine or the Righteous of Babyn Yar.
The Cabinet of Ministers must, within one month, ensure the appointment and monthly payment at the place of receiving the pension of the specified lifelong state scholarships, regardless of the amount of pension or salary received by the person. The amount of the scholarship must be at least three subsistence minimums for people who've lost their ability to work.
The issue of financing the payment of such scholarships in the current year should be resolved under the established procedure.
The decree comes into force from the date of its publication.
