Ukraine defends Europe that appeared on ruins of WWII – Foreign Ministry

In the current war against the Russian aggressor, Ukraine is defending not only itself, but the entire democratic Europe, which appeared on the ruins of World War II and is now united by the main idea "Never again!"

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine wrote about this on Facebook.

The ministry recalled that during World War II, more than 8 million Ukrainians had been killed, tortured or starved to death. More than 7 million Ukrainians fought against the Nazis in the ranks of the allies. Our compatriots were at the forefront from the very beginning until the final victory.

"For many decades, we hoped that war would never come to Ukrainian land again. But in 2014, Russia launched a military aggression against Ukraine and occupied part of our territory," the report reads.

On May 8, Ukraine marks Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation to commemorate the victims of World War II.
