There's no "Wall" project, instead, border engineering arrangement is carried out - Deineko

The Head of the Border Guard Service of Ukraine Serhii Deineko stated that there was no "Wall" project, instead, the border with the Russian Federation was being improved.

Deineko stated this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine, Rubryka reports.

"There's no Wall project. This name has remained in everyday life. Unfortunately, in our society, the Wall project is associated only with negative displays," Deineko said.

According to him, when it's possible to complete the Russian border arrangement depends only on Ukraine and what society wants to see at the border.

"It's necessary to understand that there's no wall which would reliably protect us from it, and become a kind of sarcophagus from the Russian 'Iskanders' and tanks. Such a wall doesn't exist. The only wall can be a willingness for self-sacrifice and courage of our soldiers from Armed Forces, National Guard, State Border Service, and all other security and defense forces," Deineko explained.

He added that in his view, the "wall" should provide 100% control over the borderline.

"This is the engineering arrangement we are carrying out. We are building an anti-tank trench, a control-track lane, a dirt road and we are completing all this by creating a video surveillance system. That is, we are building towers to install video cameras and thermal imagers. This is the most effective system that eliminates the human factor," the head of the Border Service said.

It should be noted that the European Wall project on the border with Russia was implemented in 2014 after the beginning of the Russian aggression.
