Zelenskyi proposes to create a format parallel to Normandy

President Volodymyr Zelenskyi proposed creating a format parallel to the Normandy one for the peaceful settlement of the war in Donbas.

The Office of the President reports.

"It could be an extension of the Normandy format, a separate, parallel format with other countries, with serious, powerful players. Not only because they're powerful, but because they want to help Ukraine end the war. I think that's a right decision," Zelenskyi said.

Zelenskyi said this during a visit to the Kherson region.

He also called for modernizing the Minsk agreements again.

"Nobody says that 'Minsk' should be stopped. But I think several points should be updated," Zelenskyi said.

He reminded negotiations were underway within the Minsk format, in particular, in the working groups of the Trilateral Contact Group, and they may achieve soon a joint result.

"Tomorrow there'll be a full-fledged TCG meeting in video format. I still think that all parties will come closer to the decision to declare a ceasefire again and restart it seriously, not only in word but also in writing," Zelenskyi said.

Earlier, Zelenskyi proposed to change the "Normandy format" to settle peace in the Donbas. In particular, by including the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
