NSDC develops various scenarios for Russia’s response to escalation – Danilov

The National Security and Defense Council monitors the situation around the clock and develops various scenarios for responding to Russia's attempts to destabilize the situation in the region.

The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council stated this during a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Ukraine Larisa Galadza, Ukrinform reports.

"The parties exchanged views on the security situation in the region, in particular in the context of escalating Russian influence in neighboring Belarus and preparations for the Russian-Belarusian strategic exercises 'West-2021,'" the statement reads.

According to Danilov, the NSDC staff monitors the situation around the clock and develops various scenarios for responding to the pace of developments.

"Unfortunately, Russia doesn't intend to stop trying to destabilize the situation in the region," he said.

Danilov added that the support of Ukraine's strategic partners was extremely important to counter the Russian hybrid threat.

The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council thanked the Canadian party for its comprehensive assistance to Ukraine. "Canada is our reliable friend and partner," he said.

In turn, the Canadian Ambassador noted Ukraine's determination on sanctions policy and stated that Canada's support for restoring territorial integrity and sovereignty over the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine remained unchanged.

As reported by Rubryka, on April 1, the European Command of the United States Armed Forces brought troops to the highest level after the occupants in Donbas violated the ceasefire and killed four Ukrainian servicemen, and Russia began withdrawing troops to the border with Ukraine.

Ukrainian intelligence reported that Russia was preparing large-scale provocations and could bring militants deep into Ukraine.
