Russia will hold 50 military exercises near Ukrainian border, in particular in Crimea - Mass media

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has launched a "control troop inspection" of the Southern Military District, which, in particular, is aimed at acting against Ukraine together with units of the Western Military District.

The Defense Express portal states, Ukrinform reports.

It's noted that all formations and military units of all district branches take part in the inspection. In total, more than 50 exercises will be conducted, including the regimental level.

"A conditional situation has been created that allows the troops and forces of the military district to work out a whole range of training and combat missions for the defense of the Russian Black Sea coast, including Crimea," Defense Express states.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, first, Russian units are working out a rapid redeployment at a considerable distance from the places of permanent deployment.

According to the portal, engineering units with pontoon equipment, TMM-500 mechanized bridges, IMR-3M clearing vehicles, and BAT-M trail-builders are involved in these tasks. Besides, a unit camouflaging complex on the march will be worked out.

As reported, in the occupied Crimea, in the Volgograd and Rostov regions, 10 bilateral company exercises will be held involving more than 150 helicopters of military aircraft. In particular, only at the Crimean Opuk test site, 40 Mi-8AMTSh military transport helicopters, which will interact with the Mi-28N, Ka-52, and Mi-35 attack helicopters.

At the same time, the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation, the "Moscow" missile cruiser, which underwent major repairs last year, conducted training to repel a UAV attack.

Units of the 49th All-arms Army did the same in the Stavropol Territory. For this purpose, they used the complexes of EW "Borisoglebsk-2" and "Zhytelt," which are constantly observed in Donbas. In the same region, tank units were trained to practice night combat, according to Defense Express.

In the Kuban, night exercises were held on strikes with "Iskander" operational and tactical complexes, which received the coordinates of targets from UAVs. Most likely, the "Orion" reconnaissance and strike drone was used, currently being tested in the occupied Crimea.

"Given that the Russian army has entered the active phase of exercises only a few days ago, similar episodes of exercises will continue in the coming weeks," Defense Express writes.
